Leigeb And Smith Earn MAC Honors

MOUNT PLEASANT - Two Central Michigan University defensive football players earned spots on the 2000 All-Mid-American Conference team released on Monday.
Senior free safety Brian Leigeb (Midland/Dow) was a second team selection while sophomore inside linebacker Darvin Lewis (Detroit/Renaissance) was honorable mention.
CMU finished the 2000 campaign with a 2-9 overall record.
The 6-2, 205-pound Leigeb led the MAC in tackles with 13.4 per game and finished with 147. He became Central's top career tackler with 490.
Lewis, a 6-3, 225-pounder, was second for the Chippewas in tackles with 113, including 13 for losses of 38 yards.
