Field Hockey Falls To Miami In MAC Tourney

ATHENS, Ohio--Miami University scored a pair of goals late in the game to help the RedHawks to a 4-2 win over Central Michigan in the opening round of the Mid-American Conference field hockey championships on Friday at Ohio University.
The Chippewas end their season with an 8-11 record while Miami advances to take on Kent State in the semifinals on Saturday.
With the score tied at 2-2, Miami's Angela Snedden scored a pair of goals to give the RedHawks the win. Snedden scored with 8:47 to play and 1:13 left.
Snedden opened the scoring with a goal at the 11:33 mark of the first half to give Miami a 1-0 advantage.
The RedHawks increased their lead to 2-0 when Kari Roche scored with just 3:14 to go in the opening period.
CMU cut the lead to 2-1 with a goal from from Krystal Yee (Victoria, British Columbia/Fr.) with just two seconds left in the first half.
Central scored first in the second half with a goal from Melissa Lazarevski (Rochester, NY/Jr.) at the 16:40 mark to knot the score at 2-2.
CMU goalie Janel Spero (Shoreham, NY/So.) made four saves while Miami's Marie Vaughn made nine.
