MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich.- Central Michigan Field Hockey took on the Bellarmine Knights for senior day Friday, Oct. 23.

The Chippewas celebrated their four seniors after the game: Hailey Bainer, Cameron Pluciennik, Annabelle Cotroneo, and Sophia Havrilla.

"The four seniors had a ton of leadership, and when you do a coaching transition, you rely on the players to really kind of hold it together for you and help welcome a new staff. They were extremely open to the style of hockey that we want, the style of culture that we wanted, and they really fed into it." Head Coach Kelly Terwilliger said of the graduating seniors, "We could not be more appreciative of them."

The game was a stalemate for much of the first half, as elite defense from both sides kept both offenses at bay.

The Chippewas were able to break through first, as senior Hailey Bainer delivered a beautiful pass to senior Cameron Pluciennik, who was able to sneak it past the Bellarmine keeper.

Bellarmine was able to strike back in the third, finding a loose ball to even up the score. The Knights then found the back of the net in the fourth off a penalty corner.

The Chippewas never gave up; with just under 15 seconds to play, Mora Rulli went on a run towards the goal and fired a shot on goal that nearly missed the corner of the cage, a shot that would have tied the game.

With the loss, the Chippewas fall to 4-13 on the season, 2-6 in Mid-American Conference play.

The Chippewas will return home Friday, Oct. 30 to take on No. 12 Miami (Ohio) at 2 p.m.
