MOUNT PLEASANT--The Central Michigan University football program received honorable mention status for academic achievement by the American Football Coaches Association.
The Chippewas were among 26 schools recognized for graduating 70% or more of their football players. Other Mid-American Conference schools honored included Ball State, Bowling Green and Marshall.
Syracuse University, with a 100% graduation rate, will receive the AFCA Academic Achievement Award presented by the Touchdown Club of Memphis.
The overall graduation rate of the 97 institutions participating in the survey was 57 percent, up from 56 percent a year ago.
