OXFORD,Ohio-- The Central Michigan University field hockey team (6-7,3-4 Mid-American Conference) broke a three-game losing streak on Saturday by defeating the Miami Redhawks, 2-0.
The Chippewas jumped out to an early lead when Meg Lewis (Pittsford, N.Y./Jr.) scored with an assist from Melissa Lazarevski (Rochester, N.Y./Sr.) with 16:36 remaining in the first half. Lazarevski added another goal about one minute later, with 15:30 remaining, to increase the Chippewa lead to two and end the scoring in the game.
Goalkeeper Janel Spero (Shoreham,N.Y./Jr.) made three saves in recording her career-high fourth shutout this season.
The Chippewas return to action Saturday, Oct.20, when they return home to Kelly/Shorts Stadium to face Ball State at 1p.m.
