Women's Track Finishes Fourth At MAC Track Finals

MOUNT PLEASANT--The Central Michigan women's track and field team took fourth place at the Mid-American Conference championships held on Feb. 23-24 at CMU's Jack Skoog Track.
Ball State won the meet with 145 points and was followed by Kent State (120), Eastern Michigan (91), CMU (90), Akron (53.50), Bowling Green (44), Miami (39.50), Buffalo (28.50), Western Michigan (19), Ohio (18), Toledo (11), Marshall (3.50).
The Chippewas were led by Melissa Brousseau who won the shot put. She took top honors with a mark of 49-3.50.
Suzy Bozin finished second in the high jump (5-10) while Kia Johnson took second in the 200m (24.80).
Melissa Miller was third in the mile (4:58.23), Tracy Yiirs third in the shot put (46-7.25) and Erin Miner third in the 800m (2:13.41).
Other individuals who scored for CMU included: LaQuesha Wiley who finished fourth in the 60m (7.73), Molly Galsterer sixth in the 800m (2:15.95), Brook Creed fifth in the mile (5:00.31).
Brousseau earned first-team All-MAC honors while Johnson, Bozin and Maria Derezinski were named to the second team.
Sue Parks of Ball State was named the MAC Coach of the Year while Katie Nowak of Ball State was named the Most Valuable Performer and Mary Varga the Most Outstanding Performance.
