Track & Field Concludes Len Paddock Open to Close Regular Season

Chippewas set three personal bests in final meet before the MAC Championships
ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Central Michigan Track & Field traveled to Michigan for the Len Paddock Open Friday for it's final meet before the Mid-American Conference Championships.
Victoria Merrick kicked off the day for the Chippewas with a personal best in the hammer throw, reaching 53.55m, raising her mark of ninth place on the Central Michigan all-time list. Her high came on the fifth attempt, securing her seventh place in the meet.
"Everyone competed well today, it was nice to be able to get a tune up meet in before we head to MACs," Central Michigan Director of Track & Field Jenny Swieton said.
In the 400m, Maya Guikema and Jessie Gibbins took fifth and sixth place, respectively. Each Guikema and Gibbins earned a personal best; Guikema finished in 58.18 seconds, and Gibbins logged 59.53 seconds.
Mireya Benjamin took fourth in the 100m dash with a 12.35-second showing.
Lois Creasey and Olivia East represented Central Michigan in the 800. Creasey earned a season-best 2:14.14 for eighth in the meet. East took 11th place at 2:19.67.
Hailey Hill was the lone Chippewa in the long jump and posted a 5.53m jump to take fourth in the meet.
Libby Munderloh closed out the Chippewas' running events with the 400m hurdles. She finished in 1:03.24 for fifth place.
Central Michigan's day ended with Ereka Risner in the shot put. She took 13th with a 12.44m throw on her second attempt.
The Chippewas will travel to Muncie, Ind., to kick off the Mid-American Conference Championships. Competition will begin Thursday, May 14, and conclude on Saturday, May 15.
