Softball Closes Speedline Invite With Loss To Penn State

TAMPA, Fla.--The Central Michigan softball team closed out play in the Speedline Invitational with a 3-1 loss to Penn State on Saturday evening.
Penn State took the early lead with a pair of runs in the second inning.
The Chippewas sliced the lead to 2-1 with a run in the bottom of the second. Kristen White had an RBI single to score Karly McCormack.
The Nittany Lions added another run in the fifth inning and held off the Chippewas the rest of the way to post the win.
Amber Puchalski took the loss for the Chippewas. She gave up six hits and three runs (one earned) in 4 1/3 innings of work.
The loss drops CMU's record to 8-12 on the season.
