Softball Falls To Florida State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.--Florida State scored a pair of runs in the seventh inning to post a 3-1 win over Central Michigan on Friday night.
With the score tied at 1-1, Serita Brook belted a triple that scored a pair of runs in the top of the seventh inning to give the Seminoles a 3-1 advantage.
CMU couldn't get a run across the plate in the bottom of the seventh.
Florida State had taken an early 1-0 lead with an unearned run in the top of the first inning.
The Chippewas answered with a run in their half of the first inning to knot the score at 1-1. Becky Manson opened the inning with a double, Kim Burke advanced her to third on a sacrifice bunt and Hope Robertshaw brought Manson home on a sacrifice fly to rightfield.
Jenn White-Stokes picked up the win for Florida State. She gave up five hits and one run and struck out seven.
Jenni Rasmussen took the loss for CMU to fall to 0-2 on the year. Rasmussen went the distance, giving up seven hits and three runs (two earned) and striking out six.
Karly McCormack hit 2-for-3 to lead the CMU five-hit attack. CMU's other hits came from Manson, Jen Skuta, Amy Morrison.
CMU continues play in the Florida State Tournament on Saturday against Northwestern at 4 p.m.
