Falcons Fly Away With Win

MOUNT PLEASANT-- Liz Passen (Fishers, Ind./Jr.) went down in game one and so did the Central Michigan University volleyball team (8-14, 4-5 Mid-American). CMU was swept in three games by the Bowling Green Falcons (7-15, 2-8) on Friday night in Rose Arena.
The game scores were 22-30, 21-30 and 21-30.
Passen went up for a hit and fell to the court with a clear injury to her knee. She never returned to the match.
The Chippewas also fell to BGSU's offense. The Falcons posted a .358 hitting percentage (47-8-109) by hitting around Central's block. CMU recorded a .106 hitting mark (40-26-132) and only one team block on the night.
The Chippewas streak of winning game one at home was broken tonight. CMU went seven-for-seven in taking game one in its home matches.
Emily Lovejoy (Traverse City/So.) totaled a match-high 18 kills and 10 digs for her 10th double-double on the season.
Setter Shaleene Glombowski (Marysville/Jr.) posted 37 assists and six digs in the match. She picked up one block assist.
Freshman libero Ali McCrite (New Albany, Ind.) scooped up a team-high 13 digs.
Kristin Gamby was BGSU's biggest offense force. She nailed 15 kills for a .400 hitting percentage. Gamby also had one ace, one block solo and one block assist.
Susie Norris and Laura Twyman picked up nine and eight kills respectively. Norris grabbed a match-high 14 digs.
Bridget Protas led the blocking for the Falcons. She tallied one block solo and four block assists. Protas had seven kills.
The Chippewas are at home on Saturday night against defending MAC champion Northern Illinois. The match begins at 7 p.m., and fans get in free with a ticket from Saturday's football game.
