Ypsilanti, Mich.--Hitting percentage was the key difference in a three-game loss to the Eastern Michigan Eagles (20-5, 8-4 Mid-American) on Wednesday night. The Central Michigan University volleyball team drops to a 9-15, 5-6 MAC record.
The game scores were 24-30, 20-30 and 25-30.
Eastern Michigan recorded its 16th straight home win tonight.
The Eagles tallied a .105 hitting percentage in game one and powered back in games two and three with a .356 and .350 hitting percentage, respectively. The Eagles totaled a .276 hitting mark on the night.
The Chippewas recorded .071, .225, and .184 hitting percentages in the three games for a .158 hitting mark in the match.
Both teams tallied eight service errors apiece. Eastern totaled six service aces to CMU's one.
Game three was tied at 25-25 but the Eagles went on a five-point run to take the game and match.
Only one Chippewa posted more than 10 kills. Emily Lovejoy (Traverse City/So.) was credited with 12 kills and 10 digs for her 12th double-double in the year.
Tamara Fant (New Baltimore/Fr.) tallied eight kills with two errors in 17 attempts for a .353 hitting percentage.
Setter Shaleene Glombowski (Marysville/Jr.) recorded 33 assists, five digs and two block solos.
EMU's Katie Wagenmaker posted 15 kills for a .407 hitting percentage while Becky Baltare had 10. Wagenmaker was named the West Division "Player of the Week" for October 28.
CMU takes on Marshall on Saturday, November 2 at 3 p.m., in Huntington, West Virginia. The Chippewas are home on November 5 against Oakland for a non-conference match-up.
