Cardinals Extend Win Streak To Four Over Chippewas

MOUNT PLEASANT--The Central Michigan University volleyball (11-17, 6-8 Mid-American) team's two match win streak was short lived as West division-leader Ball State (18-7, 13-1 MAC) took down CMU in three games on Saturday night.
Ball State's Katie Butts and Sarah Obras led the Cardinals with 16 kills apiece. Obras nailed a .394 hitting percentage and picked up a double-double with 16 digs. She also had two block assists.
The game scores were 29-31, 21-30, and 27-30.
Hitting percentage was the difference in the match. The Cardinals posted a hitting percentage of .204 (20-10-49), .250 (19-8-44), and .229 (20-9-48) while the Chippewas was held to a .109 hitting percentage in the match.
Ball State nailed four service aces to CMU's one.
The Cardinals scooped up only two more digs than CMU, 54-52, and had one more total block than the Chippewas, eight-to-seven.
Emily Lovejoy (Traverse City/So.) notched her 15th double-double in the season with a team-high 12 kills and 12 digs.
Middle hitter Kendra DeVries (Fremont/Sr.) had nine kills and four total blocks while Melissa Reynolds (Port Huron/Jr.) totaled eight kills.
Tamara Fant (New Baltimore/Fr.) chipped in five kills and four block assists.
Setter Shaleene Glombowski (Marysville/Jr.) was credited with 35 assists, two kills, and two block assists.
Ali McCrite (New Albany, Ind./Fr.) grabbed a match-high 19 digs.
For BSU, setter Stacie Baldwin dished out 47 assists and had five kills and six digs.
The Chippewas host their final home match on Wednesday, November 20 against Eastern Michigan. The match begins at 7 p.m.
