West Virginia Squeaks By Gymnastics

Morgantown, W. Va.--The Central Michigan gymnastics team (10-9, 4-3 Mid-American) fell to the Mountaineers of West Virginia on Saturday night, 194.550-194.475.
West Virginia took each event except the beam where Bethany Couturier (Grand Rapids/Sr.) and Shanna Duggan (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont./Fr.) tied for first with a 9.900. The feat was a season-high for Duggan. She also tied for second on the floor with a 9.875 and placed 12th on the vault with a 9.275. Couturier tied for seventh on vault (9.650) and placed 11th on bars (9.575).
Kara Reighard (Mt. Pleasant/Fr.) placed second in the all-around with a 39.150 behind WVU's Kristen Macrie (39.375). Reighard took third on bars (9.750), tied for fourth on the floor exercise (9.850), placed fifth on vault (9.750) and seventh on beam (9.800).
Following Reighard in the all-around was Sarah Dame (Maple City/Jr.). Dame scored a 39.100 for third place. She placed sixth on vault (9.725), tied for fifth on bars (9.700) and beam (9.850, season-high) and finished sixth on the floor exercise (9.825).
Sara Burtinsky (Oshawa, Ont./Fr.) and Sarah Nelson (Duluth, Minn./Sr.) also tied for fifth on the bars with a 9.700 while Michele Orloski (Clifton Park, N.Y./Jr.) tied for fourth on the floor with a 9.875.
The Chippewas host Ball State in their final MAC meet on March 16 at 2 p.m., in Rose Arena.
