Eleven Gymnasts Named Academic All-MAC

CLEVELAND – The Mid-American Conference announced the 2026 Gymnastics Academic All-MAC teams on Friday, which includes eleven Chippewa student-athletes.
To qualify for the honor, a gymnastics student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade-point average and have participated in at least 50 percent of their team's completed contests that season. Students in their first year of residence may not qualify for the award.
The eleven CMU student-athletes, including their year, major and grade-point average:
Luciana Alvarado-Reid, Senior, English Lit Lang & Writing, 3.73
Avah Bootz, Graduate, Master of Business Administration, 3.56
Jenna Germond, Junior, Exercise Science: Kinesiology, 3.56
Gabrielle Johnson, Junior, Biochemistry, 3.99
Lia Kmieciak, Graduate, Master of Media Arts, 4.0
Heather Parker, R-Sophomore, Photojournalism, 3.36
Zoie Pelfrey, Junior, Exercise Science: Kinesiology, 3.21
Kaitlyn Schwab, Sophomore, Exercise Science: Kinesiology, 3.91
Samantha Shannon, Junior, Biology, 3.59
Ava Wellmeier, Sophomore, Psychology, 3.95

It marks the fourth consecutive year Alvarado-Reid has been named to the squad. Bootz and Kmieciak were honored for the third time in their careers. Johnson and Shannon were honored for their second straight season.
