Chippewa Gymnastics Welcomes Luciana Alvarado-Reid Back to Mount Pleasant

Alvarado-Reid joins coaching staff as a graduate assistant for the 2026-27 season.
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – She's back!
Central Michigan Gymnastics has welcomed former Chippewa standout Luciana Alvarado-Reid to the coaching staff as a graduate assistant. The native of Cartago, Costa Rica is pursuing a Masters of Creative Writing.
Alvarado-Reid graduated from CMU with a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in English Literature, Language and Writing.
In her four-year career with CMU Gymnastics, she distinguished herself as an accomplished student-athlete. Earning numerous conference honors and individual accolades and qualified for NCAA Regionals in three consecutive seasons. Her achievements include five individual event MAC Championships, the 2023 MAC Freshman of the Year award, two MAC Gymnast of the Year honors (2025 and 2026) and the 2026 MAC Senior Gymnast of the Year. Her consistent contributions to the program have solidified her legacy as one of CMU Gymnastics' most accomplished athletes.
