CMU Baseball Falls at Michigan, 9-7

ANN ARBOR - Central Michigan University blew a 5-0 lead and lost a non-league baseball game to the University of Michigan here Wednesday afternoon, 9-7.
The win upped the Wolverine record to 9-16 while the Chippewas fell to 16-9.
The Chippewas scored first, posting a marker in the second when Mike Gates walked to open the inning, went to second on a bounce out and scored on Ryan Krueger's triple to center.
CMU scored four times in the top of the third to take a 5-0 lead. Steve Sanfilippo opened with a triple to right and scored on a fly to right by Tim Bullinger that was dropped. Tommy Grubb singled in Bullinger and Danny Gibbons singled and Gates walked to load the bases. Keith Sampsell walked in one run and Krueger's sac fly plated another.Central's bats were quiet until scoring twice on three singles and an error in the ninth. Gibbons had an RBI single and Gates drove in a run when he was safe on an error.
Michigan tied it with five runs on six hits in the bottom of the third off starter Ryan Cremeans.
The Wolverines went ahead, 7-5, in the fourth off reliever David LeMieux. With two outs, the sophomore right-hander walked three, hit one and gave up a single for a pair of runs.
Michigan added two more in the seventh on a two-run single by Brock Koman.
Krueger had two of CMU's six hits after going eight-for-15 in a four-game set at Akron this past weekend. His average is now .337. Grubb and Gibbons also had two hits.
CMU returns to Mid-American Conference action at Eastern Michigan University on Friday for a single, nine-inning game beginning at 6 p.m.
