Two Chippewas Earn Academic Honor

MOUNT PLEASANT--Central Michigan University junior all-arounder Sarah Dame (Maple City/Glen Lake) was named to the Verizon Academic At-Large District First Team while wrestler Jordan Webster (Washington, Ill./Jr.) was named to the Verizon Academic District IV Men's At-Large Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Dame returned as the 2001 Mid-American Conference all-around champion and started all 13 meets for the Chippewas. Her season-highs included a 9.825 on vault, 9.850 on balance beam, 9.80 on bars, 9.90 on the floor exercise and a career-high 39.200 in the all-around. Her all-around score is now the sixth-highest in CMU record books.
The Maple City native sports a 3.99 grade point average and is majoring in English.
Webster won a MAC title for the 133-pound weight class with a major decision and qualified to compete in the NCAA Championship. The junior grappler went 3-2 in the tournament, losing in the consolation quarterfinals.
Webster finished his year 24-8 overall, 5-0 MAC. He was 11-4 in dual meets, 13-4 in tournaments and recorded three falls.
The Washington, Ill., native is a math major with a 3.82 grade point average.
