MOUNT PLEASANT -- Central Michigan University will open the 2003 football schedule with a game at the University of Michigan on Saturday, Aug. 30.
"It will be a great measuring stick for our 2003 football team to start the season against a tradition-rich program like Michigan," said Chippewa head coach Mike DeBord who served as an assistant for eight years with the Wolverines prior to coming to CMU.
It will mark the second time the two schools have played with the Wolverines posting a 27-0 decision at home in 1931. Central Michigan also has a road date at Michigan slated for 2006.
Also on tap for 2003 in non-conference games for Central Michigan are home dates with New Hampshire (Sept. 6) and East Tennessee State (Sept. 13) and a road game at Navy (Nov. 22).
CMU also has games scheduled against Big Ten opposition in 2004 (at Indiana), 2005 (Indiana at home and at Penn State), 2006 (at Michigan) and 2007 (at Purdue).
