MOUNT PLEASANT -- Central Michigan University's football program was one of 25 honored nationally by the American Football Coaches Association for graduation rate.
The institutions were recognized for graduating 70 percent or more of their football players.
The AFCA conducts a graduation rate survey each year and this particular study involved the freshman class from the academic year of 1996-97.
Northwestern was the top team with a 100 percent graduation rate while two other Mid-American Conference schools were recognized along with CMU for a better than 70 percent rate -- Ball State and Western Michigan.
