MOUNT PLEASANT - The Central Michigan University volleyball team (11-11, 5-4 Mid-American Conference) improved its overall record to .500 for the first time since Sept. 17 with a 3-0 win over Bowling Green (11-12, 3-6) on Saturday night in Rose Arena.
Meghan Moore and Emily Lovejoy teamed up to help the Chippewas down the Falcons. Moore had 16 kills and seven block assists while Lovejoy recorded 13 assists and served up two aces.
Both Moore and Lovejoy had hitting percentages above .300. Lovejoy finished the match at .375 and Moore hit at .321.
The first game was played pretty even. CMU held a slight edge in most statistical categories, 17-16 in kills, 17-15 in assists and 12-10 in digs. The difference in the game was the Chippewas four blocks to Bowling Green's zero leading to CMU's 30-26 victory.
In game No. 2, the Falcons jumped out to an 11-4 lead. After a CMU timeout, the Chippewas battled back and eventually took a 23-22 lead and never relinquished it. They eventually won, 30-25.
The third game was dominated CMU as it cruised to a 30-20 victory.
Ali McCrite notched a match-high 13 digs and Shaleene Glombowski had a match-high 49 assists.
It was CMU's third win in a row and its fifth in it's last six matches. The Chippewas improved their MAC record above .500 for the first time this season at 5-4.
CMU returns to action tomorrow versus Toledo in Toledo, Ohio. The Chippewas lostthe first matchup between the two, 3-2.
