MOUNT PLEASANT -- Three members of the 2003 Central Michigan University football team were named to the Mid-American Conference second team in voting by the conference head coaches.
Freshman halfback Jerry Seymour (Miami, Fla./Pace) and junior tackle Adam Kieft (Rockford) were second team picks on offense while junior strong safety James King (Oak Park/Western) made it on defense.
The 5-6, 190-pound Seymour rushed for 1,117 yards and eight touchdowns on 205 carries. He played just nine games, missing three with an injury. He broke the 100-yard barrier in seven games including all five since returning from a midseason leg injury.
Seymour, a true freshman, also caught 13 passes for 103 yards and returned 16 kickoffs for 330 yards.
Kieft, a 6-7, 320-pounder, started every game at left tackle for the 3-9 Chippewas. CMU rushed for 195.8 yards per game and finished with 370.7 yards per game in total offense.
King led the team in tackles with 143 -- seventh most in Chippewa history. He was second in tackles-for-loss with 12 for minus 65 yards.
