Softball Wins First Game Of USF Strawberry Festival Tournament

Plant City, Fla.-After a day of rain delays on Friday, the Central Michigan University softball team (2-4 overall) completed its first game of the USF Strawberry Festival Tournament on Saturday afternoon.
The Chippewas took down the Virginia Tech Hokies, 3-1.
In her first at-bat of the day, senior Karly McCormack nailed a three-run homer over the left center fence at Plant City Stadium.
She drove in Allie Hansen and Michelle Brander, who both reached the bases on errors.
McCormack went 1-for-3 on the day with three RBI.
Virginia Tech's Rachel Pacheo singled to left to bring in Shanel Garofalo for the Hokies only score.
Pitcher Amber Puchalski (2-1) picked up the win for CMU, pitching all seven innings. She struck out nine in the game and gave up five hits.
The loss went to Pacheo (2-1).
The Chippewas take on Troy State at 12:30 p.m., on Saturday.
