Gymnastics Takes Third Of Four In Utah

Provo, Utah--The Central Michigan University gymnastics team (19-3, 4-0 Mid-American) competed in a quadrangular meet and took third place on Friday, March 7. CMU posted a 195.250 while Soutern Utah placed first with a 195.875. Brigham Young came in second with a 195.425 and Utah State placed fourth with a 195.225.
The Chippewas posted a season-high 49.425 on the floor exercise.
Sophomore Kara Reighard took first place in the all-around with a 39.400. She scored a 9.875 on vault for third place, a 9.825 on bars (tied for 10th), a 9.80 on beam (tied for 6th), and a 9.9 on the floor to tie for fifth place.
Utah State's Jessica Parenti placed second in the all-around with a 39.250 and Meagan Nelson took third with a 39.200.
Sara Burtinsky notched a career-high 9.95 on the bars to take first place.
Shanna Duggan competed in the all-around. She placed ninth with a 37.875. Duggan tied for fifth place on the floor with a season-high 9.9.
Mattie Crawford posted a 9.875 on the floor for a season high, while senior Sarah Dame nailed a season-high 9.85 on bars.
Tiffany Dykstra also had a season-high on bars with a 9.825.
CMU stays in Utah for a meet on Monday, March. 10. The Chippewas take on Utah State and Southern Utah in Logan, Utah. The meet is set for 7 p.m., (MST).
