MOUNT PLEASANT -- Due in large part to Katie Teft's perfect score on the bars and Michele Orloski's ten on the floor, the Central Michigan University gymnastics team captured their second regular season Mid-American Conference title in four years.
The Chippewas defeated Eastern Michigan 196.025-194.175 in Rose Arena on Saturday afternoon to secure their second straight perfect season at home. They finished the year 6-0 after going 3-0 last season.
Orloski's perfect performance on the floor earned her the victory in that event. It was her second straight ten on the floor.
Teft's victory also gave her the second perfect ten of the season on the bars. She also accomplished the feat on February 23, at home against Northern Illinois.
Orloski and Teft were the only two Chippewas to come away with an individual victory.
CMU will travel to Bowling Green State University on Saturday, March 22 , to compete in the MAC tournament. The Chippewas have won nine tournament titles, the last coming in 2000.
