Temple Gives CMU First Loss Of Florida Trip

Plant City, Fla.--The Central Michigan University softball team (6-5 overall) lost its first game of the Speedline Tournament to Temple this afternoon.
Even though CMU had eight hits in the game, the most hits this season, the Owls won the contest 4-3.
CMU was 1-0 going into the game with a 2-1 win over Purdue earlier in the day.
Temple's lead-off batter, Jessica Rohn, scored first in the bottom of the third inning. She reached first base on an error and advanced to second on the throw. Rohn got to third base on a fielder's choice and scored on a passed ball.
In the top of the fourth inning, Natalie de la Vega singled to center field to bring in Ari Ault who was pinch running for Karly McCormack.
Freshman Christan Dhondt nailed a shot to center field to bring in Allie Hansen and de la Vega.
CMU went up on Temple, 3-1.
Temple dominated in the bottom of the fifth inning with three runs scored to win the game, 4-3.
Jessica Garvin started pitching for CMU. Jenni Rasmussen came in at the bottom of the fourth and Amber Puchalski entered the game at the bottom of the fifth inning.
Rasmussen (1-2) took the loss.
Michelle Brander went 2-for-4 with a double to left and a single. Hansen and de la Vega each went 2-for-2.
The Chippewas take on Mississippi at noon and Pacific at 4 p.m., on Friday.
