Rockets Blast Past Chippewas, 3-0

TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo Rockets hit .343 en route to a three-game sweep over the visiting Central Michigan University Chippewas on Friday night in Savage Hall.
Game scores were 30-19, 30-21 and 30-26.
Despite nine blocks by the Chippewa defense, Toledo had two players hit double figures in the kills department and another two players with an attack percentage over .500 as the Rockets improved to 11-3 overall, 1-3 in the MAC. UT began the season 10-0 in nonconference play before dropping its first three league matches. CMU falls to 4-10 overall, 1-3 in the MAC.
The Chippewas hit .102 for the match and struggled getting out of the gates with a .029 mark in game one and a .070 tally in game two.
Junior Ali McCrite tallied nine digs for CMU, moving her into a tie for first on the CMU career digs chart with Patty Mitchell (1987-90). Each player now has 1,289 in their career.
Sophomore Meghan Moore led CMU's offense with 17 points on 13 kills, one block solo and six block assists. She hit .458 on 24 attempts.
No other Chippewa was in double figures as Melanie Klein added eight kills and a block assist.
Freshman setter Courtney Kersten distributed 21 assists while posting four blocks (one solo). Aislinn Hayes and Emily Lovejoy each added five kills.
Rachel Mohler led Toledo with 14 kills and 10 digs while Kelsey Culver posted 11 kills. Lora Sarich posted a match-high 12 digs for UT.
The Chippewas now head to Eastern Michigan for a Saturday match at 7 p.m.
