Volleyball Drops 3-0 Decision at EMU

YPSILANTI - Offensive problems continue to plague the Central Michigan University volleyball team as the Chippewas dropped a 3-0 decision at Eastern Michigan on Saturday night.
Game scores were 30-24, 30-18 and 30-26.
The Mid-American Conference West Division-leading Eagles improved to 5-0 in league play, 9-6 overall, while the Chippewas fell to 4-11 overall, 1-4 in the MAC.
CMU hit just .061 for the match while posting 41 kills to 32 errors in 148 attempts. The Chippewas posted just a .082 attack percentage in game one and a -.098 mark in game two with eight kills and 12 errors.
Emily Lovejoy was the lone bright spot on CMU's offense. She tallied a match-high 18 kills while hitting .267. Meghan Moore added nine kills and Aislinn Hayes five.
Eastern Michigan on the other hand hit .244 for the match as Melissa Bartlett posted 15 kills on .419 hitting. Emily Bush added 10 kills and five blocks for the Eagles.
Ali McCrite tallied 20 digs in the match while Mary Ochmanek and Lovejoy each added 11. McCrite became the sole holder of the CMU career digs record holder after tying Patti Mitchell at Toledo on Friday with 1,289.
Courtney Kersten tallied 36 assists for CMU. Melanie Klein had a strong showing at the net with two block solos and three assists for five total blocks.
Things don't get any easier for the Chippewas as they host Ball State and East Division-leading Ohio next Friday and Saturday.
