IPFW Rolls Past Volleyball, 3-0

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Central Michigan University unsuccessfully stepped out of Mid-American Conference play on Sunday afternoon with a 3-0 loss at IPFW.
Game scores were 30-15, 30-21 and 30-26.
The Mastodons, ranked 15th regionally in the RichKern.com/AVCA rankings, improve to 14-8 while CMU falls to 5-15.
Freshman right side hitter Jesse Miller tallied a career-high 13 kills in the matinee while posting a .522 hitting percentage. She had just one error in 23 attempts. Miller also added three digs and a block assist.
Meghan Moore posted 12 kills, two aces and two block assists for a team-high 15 points while Emily Lovejoy notched 10 kills and 13 digs for her 13th double-double of the season.
IPFW hit .291 for the match compared to CMU's .134 mark. The Mastodons held an 8-3 advantage in blocking and aced 10 serves compared to CMU's three.
Fabiana Souza led the way for IPFW with 13 kills, 15 digs and three block assists. Two other players hit double figures in kills for the Mastodons while Peachy Jankowski had 18 digs.
The Chippewas got virtually no offensive production from the bench for the second straight match as the reserves posted just one kill.
Ali McCrite led CMU defensively with 18 digs while Jaimeson Whitman set the offense with 37 kills and she also tallied nine digs.
The Chippewas return to MAC play with a pair of home matches this weekend, welcoming Bowling Green on Friday, Oct. 22, and Toledo on Saturday, Oct. 23. Both matches begin in Rose Arena at 7 p.m.
