TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Texas A&M broke open a scoreless game in the bottom of fourth with a single run and the Aggies went on to add two more in the fifth and four more in the sixth for a 7-0 win over Central Michigan University on Friday afternoon. The game was the opener for both teams in the Florida State University Invitational.
Texas A&M pounded out 11 hits, but the Aggies committed four errors. CMU wasn't able to take advantage of the miscues as the Chippewas couldn't push a run across on just three hits.
Aimee Smith posted two of the Chippewas' hits while Christan Dhondt added a double.
Starter Amber Puchalski went into the fourth inning facing 13 batters. She walked three and only struck out one while allowing one of the runs. Jessica Garvin and Jill DeRoche both saw relief action.
The Chippewas play St. Joseph's at 4 p.m., today in pool play. CMU faces Robert Morris and No. 5 Florida State on Saturday before entering bracket play.
