Six Student-Athletes Commit to Football

MOUNT PLEASANT - Central Michigan University football coach Brian Kelly has announced the signing of six student-athletes to national letters-of-intent.
Joining the Chippewas are junior college transfers Rashon Brooks (Los Angeles, Calif./Long Beach College) and Jason Cooper (Compton, Calif./El Camino College) and incoming freshmen Michael Jean (Miami, Fla./Norland), Preston Jackson (Miami, Fla./Palmetto), Jason Ruger (Miami, Fla./Jackson), and Eugene Rauls (Miami/Jackson).
"We signed a good combination of players," head coach Brian Kelly said. "Two of our signees are mentally and physically ready to play right away in transfers Rashon Brooks and Jason Cooper. We also signed four freshmen that will need time to develop."
Brooks is a 5-10, 180-pound cornerback from Long Beach College.
Cooper comes to CMU via El Camino Junior College where he was second team all-conference. The 6-2, 175-pound wide receiver won five letters at Dominguez High in Compton, Calif., en route to all-conference honors as a junior and senior.
Jean is a 5-9 175-pound wide receiver from Norland High in Miami, Fla. He won three letters between football and track. Jean played in the Dade-Broward All-Star Game and was a first team all-county honoree in the 100m.
Jackson, a 6-4, 205-pound defensive end, won six letters at Palmetto High in Miami, Fla. He won two in football and four in basketball and was an all-conference selection in basketball.
Ruger graduated from Jackson High in Miami, Fla., and is a 6-2, 190-pound safety. He had 89 tackles as a senior and 79 and junior. Ruger was tabbed all-county and all-state.
Rauls also comes from Jackson High. He is a 6-5, 305-pound center.
