Marcy Weston will be inducted into the Central Michigan University Athletic Hall of Fame as a highly successful volleyball coach for the Chippewas.
But, her legacy at CMU transcends coaching.
"Marcy has been at CMU during a phenomenal period in women's athletics and she's had a lot to do with it," said Terri (Phillion) Dulude, a player under Weston and a Hall of Fame member herself.
Weston will be inducted into the CMU Athletic Hall of Fame on Friday, Oct. 1, at a banquet at the Comfort Inn Convention Conference Center. Tickets are $30 each and may be purchased by contacting the CMU ticket office at 1-888-FIRE UP2.
Also being inducted that evening will be John DeBoer (football), Dick Horgan (golf), Greg Lotzar (baseball), Dave Nelson (basketball), Carla (Sterk) Fles (basketball) and the 1974 football team (Division II national champions).

Weston, who is still on the staff at CMU as an associate athletics director, led her 15 Chippewa volleyball teams to a record of 426-140 for an incredible winning percentage of .752. Her teams won four straight state titles from 1977-80 and her 1981 team went 54-14 to set a school record for wins in a season in any sport.
She also served as the field hockey coach from 1972-74 and was the women's basketball coach from 1974-76.
Dulude remembers Marcy more for her personal characteristics than her coaching achievements.
"Marcy was the most charismatic, classy person you'll ever meet," Dulude said. "She was so respected by all of the players. It was a gift to be a part of the program.
"Even when I see her 20 years later, I feel welcome and respected. She has tremendous dedication to CMU and whenever she retires, it will be a huge loss."
Weston is well known on the national front as an outstanding women's basketball official who worked two NCAA championship games. She has been the national coordinator of NCAA Women's Basketball officiating since 1995 and was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 2000.
Weston, who lives in Mount Pleasant, will join three of her former volleyball standouts in the Hall of Fame -- Gina Mazzolini (Class of 1992), Joanne Hoskins (1994) and Dulude (2001).
