TOLEDO, Ohio - The road woes continued for the Central Michigan University volleyball team as it lost at Toledo on Saturday afternoon, 3-0 (30-17, 30-15, 30-21).
The Chippewas are winless on the road this season and the loss sends them to 3-17 overall, 0-10 in the Mid-American Conference. The Rockets improve to 13-9, 6-4 in conference play.
Kate Fissel, who grew up in nearby Perrysburg, Ohio, led the CMU offense with seven kills and a .167 hitting percentage. Fissel also tallied a team-high seven digs while Courtney Kersten had 19 assists.
The Rockets more then doubled-up CMU in kills, 50-23, and outhit the Chippewas, .421-(-).011. Toledo also tallied eight more digs, 38-30, and four more blocks, 7-2.
Kelsey Culver led the way for UT with 11 kills and a .647 hitting percentage. Kate Bean and Lora Sarich led Toledo's defense with nine digs apiece with Corrie Magnus recording four blocks.
The Chippewas return home next weekend for a pair of matches. CMU hosts Akron on Friday, October 28, at 7 p.m., and Buffalo on Saturday, Oct. 29, at 7 p.m.
