MOUNT PLEASANT - Central Michigan University head football coach Brian Kelly is a weekly voter in the USA Today Coaches Poll. Each week, a sampling of his top 25 will be posted here at www.cmuchippewas.com. Notes on the poll and the national scene will accompany the rankings.
Kelly's top 10 this week:
1. USC
2. Texas
3. Virginia Tech
4. Alabama
5. UCLA
6. Miami (Fla.)
7. LSU
8. Florida State
9. Georgia
10. Notre Dame
Movin' On Up: Alabama and UCLA move from sixth and ninth to fourth and fifth, respectively, on Kelly's ballot this week. The five remaining unbeatens in Division I-A now fill the top five slots on his ballot. Notre Dame is back in the top 10 following a convincing 49-23 win over BYU.
Who's the New Guy?: Colorado cracks the top 25 on Kelly's ballot this week. The Buffaloes are No. 24 in the national poll.
Still No. 1: For the first time in a month, USC gained ground on No. 2 Texas. The Trojans collected 56 of a possible 62 first place votes, up from last week's total of 53. Virginia Tech continues to receive one No. 1 vote.
