CMU Women Lose at Eastern Michigan, 69-53

YPSILANTI -- Eastern Michigan went on a 15-5 run at the end of the game here Wednesday night to capture a 69-53 Mid-American Conference women's basketball win over Central Michigan University.
The Chippewas crept to within six at 54-48 with 4:40 remaining only to have the Eagles outscore them down the stretch for the final margin.
CMU is now 10-15 for the season and 4-10 in MAC play while Eastern goes to 20-5 overall and 10-4 in the league.
Junior Erin Kuhl led the Chippewas with 12 points and four assists against no turnovers. She hit on six-of-seven from the field. Senior Lindy Hatfield added 11 for CMU.
The Eagles were led by Nikki Knapp and Ryan Coleman with 19 and 15, respectively.
EMU held 27-of-55 shots from the field for 49 percent. In the second half, the Eagles were true on 14-of-26.
CMU meshed 22-of-56 for 39 percent.
Eastern also held a 34-32 edge in rebounding thanks to Sarah VanMetre's eight. Sharonda Hurd and Dana Westover led the Chippewas with six each.
CMU plays at Western Michigan on Saturday at 2 p.m., before closing the regular season at home on March 1 against Ball State at 7 p.m..
