YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Two Youngstown State hurlers handcuffed Central Michigan University on only two hits here Saturday afternoon in the second game of a college baseball doubleheader won by the host Penguins, 4-0.
CMU won the first game, 3-2, in 10 innings. The Chippewas are now 12-7 for the season entering the final game of the series set for here Sunday at 1 p.m.
YSU scored two in the second and two more in the fifth off CMU starter and loser Jason Cairns. He went four and two-third innings, giving up six hits and four earned runs. He walked three and struck out three.
Mark Lundquist tossed one-hit shutout ball for one and one-third frames for the Chippewas while Josh Collmenter blanked the Penguins on one hit over the final two innings.
Andy Svitak (six innings) and Kent Libeg (three innings) combined on the shutout for the Penguins.
CMU's only hits were a double by Troy Moratti and a single by Derek Schaller
