Chippewas Fall to Toledo, 7-2

MOUNT PLEASANT -- Central Michigan University dropped its fourth straight game to start defense of its Mid-American Conference baseball title here Friday afternoon to the University of Toledo, 7-2.
The Chippewas are now 16-12 for the season and 0-4 in MAC play while the Rockets are 8-19 overall and 2-5 in loop action.
UT's Nick Szczur was the story as the hard-throwing right-hander handcuffed CMU on five hits and went the route. He walked five and struck out seven to even his record at 3-3.
The loss went to Chippewa starter Ty Dunham (2-3) who lasted five and one-third innings. He gave up 10 hits and six runs, five earned. Ty walked three and struck out one.
CMU took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the third on Kurtis Wells' two-run single.
However, the Rockets tied it at 2-2 in the fifth and broke it open with four runs in the sixth inning.
Ryan Peel and Wells had two hits each to lead CMU.
The two teams are back in action here Saturday with a single game at 1 p.m.
