MOUNT PLEASANT -- Central Michigan University's 2005 season football opener will be televised nationally.
Indiana University will provide the opposition for the ESPNU telecast that is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 2, in Kelly/Shorts Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
"It's an exciting development for Central Michigan University, head coach Brian Kelly and the entire football program," said Chippewa athletics director Herb Deromedi. "It'll give our alums and fans the opportunity to see a game they might otherwise not be able to see.
"It's a great moment for all involved. Not only will it be nationally televised but it will be the first time a team from the Big Ten has played at CMU."
The Chippewas, 4-7 in 2004 in Kelly's first season with the Maroon and Gold, have a second Big Ten school on the schedule -- a Sept. 17 date at Penn State University. That game will be at 1:30 p.m.
