Following is a recap of the 2005 Central Michigan University fall softball tournament held Sept. 17-18 in Mount Pleasant.
Saturday, Sept. 17
Saginaw Valley 3, Central Michigan 2
Stephanie Crews and Christan Dhondt each drove in runs but CMU couldn't top the Cardinals. Freshman pitcher Ali Pettit suffered the loss but only one of her three runs allowed was earned. She threw four innings and Amy Candioto two of relief.
Grand Valley 3, Saginaw Valley 1
Central Michigan 2, Wayne State 0
Jill DeRoche and Jessica Garvin combined to no-hit the Warriors. Brittany Decker and Allie Hansen drove CMU's runs as Decker had a pair of hits. Katie Horvath added a triple.
Central Michigan 5, Grand Valley 3
Christan Dhondt provided most of CMU's offense, driving in three runs with a bases-loaded pinch hit double. Suzie Giroux also had an RBI and a pair of hits. Jessica Garvin went three innings and Christa Delamater and Jill DeRoche each saw relief work.
Saginaw Valley 4, Wayne State 2
Grand Valley 5, Wayne State 0
Sunday, Sept. 18
Central Michigan 1, Northwood 0
Amy Hudson drove in CMU's only run with a double and Karen Hohs had a pair of hits. Jill DeRoche got the win in the circle and Amy Candioto earned a save.
Northwood 1, Ferris State 0
Central Michigan 4, Macomb CC 3
Amy Hudson hit a solo homer and Jacque Benedict, Karen Hohs and Amber Olejniczak each drove in runs as CMU held on for the win. CMU used three pitchers with Ali Pettit getting the win and Jessica Garvin coming on for the save in relief of Christa Delamater.
Central Michigan 4, Ferris State 0
Lindsey Calme drove in half of CMU's runs with a homer and Amy Hudson and Christan Dhondt each added doubles. Jessica Garvin went three innings for the win and Jill DeRoche closed the final two.
Northwood 2, Macomb CC 1
Ferris State 4, Macomb CC 1
