Postgame Notes – CMU at Kentucky

Daniel Bazuin sat out the game with an injury. It snapped a streak of 38 consecutive starts for the defensive end.
CMU allowed a touchdown on the opponent’s opening possession for the second time in 2006.
The Chippewas converted all five of their opportunities in the red zone against Kentucky (two touchdowns, three field goals). For the season, CMU has converted 17-of-19 red zone opportunities.
Marcel Archer made his first career start at running back. He finished the game with a team-high 69 yards rushing on 16 carries and caught three passes for 28 yards.
Pacino Horne’s interception in the first quarter was the second of his career. His first was in the 2005 season opener against Indiana. Both interceptions were in the end zone and resulted in touchbacks.
Dan LeFevour’s 61-yard touchdown pass to Damien Linson is CMU’s longest play from scrimmage in 2006.
Damien Linson recorded his 14th and 15th career touchdown catches on Saturday, moving him into a tie for fourth place on CMU’s all-time touchdown receptions list.
Kentucky’s 28 first-half points are the most allowed in a half by CMU this season.
Dan LeFevour established new career highs for passing yards (360) and touchdowns (four). He completed 22-of-38 attempts in just under three quarters of action against UK.
Rick Albreski’s three field goals are the most in a game in his career. It is the first time CMU has converted at least three field goals in a game since Mike Gruzwalski made four in a 47-21 win over Eastern Michigan in 2002.
Kentucky’s 45 points are the most CMU has allowed in a single game since a 61-58, four-overtime loss to Eastern Michigan in 2004. The Chippewas’ 36 points on Saturday are the most scored in a loss since that same game.
Tony Mikulec’s 18-yard run on a fake punt on fourth-and-four in the third quarter was his second rush for a first down this season. Against Boston College, he ran five yards for a first down on a fake field goal.
Rafael Little returned just one punt for minus-1 yard on Saturday night. For the season, CMU has allowed a total of just 13 yards on six punt returns.
CMU has turned the ball over 12 times through five games this season. The Chippewas committed a total of just 10 turnovers in all of 2005.
CMU is now 0-6 all-time against the Southeastern Conference, including 0-5 against Kentucky.
