MOUNT PLEASANT Seven members of the Central Michigan University football program have been named to the Academic All-Mid-American Conference team.
CMU’s seven selections are the most of any program in the MAC and comprise nearly one-third of the 22 overall team members. It is the most academic all-conference selections for CMU since 2001.
Daniel Bazuin (McBain, Mich./McBain HS), a 2006 Academic All-America first team honoree, is member of the academic all-conference squad for the third consecutive season. Making their second appearance on the team are Red Keith (Franklin, Ga./Heard County HS), Tony Mikulec (Highland, Mich./Notre Dame Prep) and Eric Tunney (Alger, Mich./Whittemore-Prescott HS). First-time selections are Brian Brunner (Hubertus, Wis./Hartford Union HS), Doug Kress (Lapeer, Mich./Lapeer West HS) and Dan LeFevour (Downers Grove, Ill./Benet Academy).
The Academic All-MAC team is voted upon by the conference’s 12 faculty athletics representatives. To qualify, student-athletes must compete in 50 percent of the season’s contests and have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade-point average.
