Passy Named MAC Gymnast of the Week

MOUNT PLEASANT – Central Michigan University senior gymnast Jules Passy has been named the Mid-American Conference Gymnast of the Week for her stellar performance in CMU’s 195.125-192.775 win over Bowling Green on Sunday.
Passy became the first MAC gymnast to top 39.000 in the all-around this season, as she scored 39.025 against Bowling Green. She scored 9.850 on both balance beam and floor exercise, matching her season and MAC-high score on beam and posting a new season-high on floor. Passy won both those events and the all-around competition against BG. She added a 9.725 on uneven bars and a 9.600 on vault to help the Chippewas score season-highs on three events and post the top team score in the MAC in 2007.
It is the second time in her career that Passy has been given a conference honor. She was named Gymnast of the Week once in 2006 (Jan. 30). She becomes the third Chippewa gymnast to be honored by the MAC this season, joining Laura Rogers (Gymnast of the Week on Jan. 22) and Sheena Smith (Specialist of the Week on Jan. 22) as award winners.
Passy and the Chippewas will be back in action this Sunday, Feb. 18, for a dual meet at archrival Western Michigan. The competition at University Arena in Kalamazoo, Mich. will begin at 1 p.m.
