Mormino was the 25th player taken in the sixth round and 199th selection overall.
He is the third CMU player selected in the 2007 draft joining Joe Staley (San Francisco 49ers, first round) and Daniel Bazuin (Chicago Bears, second round). This marks the first time CMU has had as many as three players taken in the same draft.
Mormino is the fourth offensive lineman to be drafted from CMU in the past three years. In addition to Staley, Eric Ghiaciuc and Adam Kieft were selected in the fourth and fifth round, respectively, by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2005.
Mormino started 52 games over the course of four seasons after redshirting in 2002. He was an All-Mid-American Conference second team selection as a senior in 2006 and led CMU with 75 knockdown blocks in 2005.
He anchored offensive lines that helped quarterback Dan LeFevour earn MAC Freshman of the Year honors in 2006 and led the way for Ontario Sneed to run for 1,065 yards as a true freshman in 2005.
Mormino capped his collegiate career by competing in the Inta Juice North-South All-Star Classic in Houston in January.
In Miami, Mormino joins a team that finished 6-10 in 2006.
Mormino joins seven other former Chippewas in the NFL: Staley (San Francisco), Bazuin (Chicago), Ghiaciuc and Kieft (Cincinnati), tight end Tory Humphrey and defensive lineman Cullen Jenkins (Green Bay) and quarterback Kent Smith (Tennessee).
