CMU at Toledo Oct. 25, 2008
Sophomore defensive lineman Tredale Kennedy made his first career start on Saturday.
Redshirt freshman Josh Allison’s first career tackle was a sack of Aaron Opelt on third down on Toledo’s opening possession.
True freshman long-snapper Brian Bennyhoff saw his first action of the season against Toledo. He is the 12th different true freshman to play for the Chippewas in 2008.
Bryan Anderson moved into a tie for first on CMU’s career touchdown receptions list on Saturday. He is now tied with Reggie Allen and John DeBoer with 19 touchdown receptions. Saturday’s game was the fourth time in his career that Anderson caught two or more touchdown passes in a game.
Anderson also extended to 35 his streak of consecutive games with at least one reception.
Dan LeFevour threw multiple touchdown passes in the same game for the 20th time in his 35 career games played.
LeFevour is now tied for seventh in Mid-American Conference history with 64 career touchdown passes. Charlie Frye (Akron) also tossed 64 touchdown passes during his career.
Ontario Sneed scored the 24th rushing touchdown of his career against Toledo. He is tied for 10th in school history in career rushing touchdowns.
Saturday’s win evened the all-time series between CMU and Toledo at 17-17-3. CMU has won four straight against the Rockets for the first time since 1975-78. The Chippewas have also won two straight at the Glass Bowl for the first time since 1975 and 1977.
The Chippewas have won 14 straight games against MAC opponents from the state of Ohio.
CMU is now bowl-eligible for a fourth consecutive season.
The 24-23 victory was CMU’s first game decided by a single point since a 38-37 win at Miami in 2005. CMU has won its last six one-point games dating back to 1996.
The Chippewas are now 11-1 in MAC regular season contests under Butch Jones.
CMU finished the month of October 3-0 and is now 14-1 in its last 15 games played during October.
The Chippewas have won 12 of their last 14 MAC road games, including seven straight.
Senior left tackle Andrew Hartline made his 47th consecutive start, tied for the longest active streak in the country.
Antonio Brown caught 10 passes for the second straight week. He is now tied with Damien Linson for fifth on CMU’s career receptions list with 155.
CMU is 6-2 through eight games for the first time since 1994.
