Wednesday’s game marked the Chippewas’ first overtime contest since a 24-17 win at Eastern Michigan in 2006. CMU is now 5-4 all-time in overtime games and has won its last three overtime contests.
CMU has now won eight straight MAC road games. The Chippewas have won 13 of their last 15 conference games on the road.
Wednesday’s win was CMU’s first at Northern Illinois since 1977 and snapped an eight-game losing streak in DeKalb.
CMU’s current six-game winning streak is its longest since 1994.
CMU has seen five of its 10 games decided by three points or less in 2008 and is 5-0 in those contests. The Chippewas have not had that many games decided by three points or less since 1991, when six games (including an NCAA record-tying four ties) were decided by three points or less.
CMU has won eight games in three straight seasons for the first time since 1978-80. The Chippewas’ 26 wins over the past three seasons are the most in a three-year span since 1979-81.
CMU is 6-0 in MAC play for just the fourth time since joining the conference in 1975.
Jeremy Wilson made his first career reception on the Chippewas’ opening drive of the game.
Sophomore offensive lineman Colin Miller, who has started 19 career games at center, made his first career start at left guard against NIU.
Senior defensive end Antrione Archer made his first career start.
Andrew Hartline started his 49th consecutive game, tied for the longest active streak in the country.
Dan LeFevour is the 20th player in CMU history to rush for at least 2,000 yards in a career. He now has 2,093 career rushing yards.
Dan LeFevour is now alone in seventh place in MAC history with 66 touchdown passes. He entered the game tied with Charlie Frye (Akron) for seventh with 64 career touchdown passes.
Dan LeFevour passed and rushed for a touchdown for the 14th time in 36 career games played. He threw multiple touchdown passes in a game for the 21st time in his career.
CMU scored 23 points in the first half, the most it has scored in the opening half of any game this season.
LeFevour recorded his eighth career 100-yard rushing game. It was his third 100-yard rushing effort in 2008.
Sam Williams collected his first career interception in the second quarter.
LeFevour is now tied with Brian Pruitt for fifth place on CMU’s career rushing touchdowns list with 31. Wednesday’s game marked the 10th time Dan LeFevour has rushed for two or more touchdowns in a game.
LeFevour was CMU’s leading rusher for the 17th time in his career.
Bryan Anderson has caught a pass in 37 consecutive games.
Ontario Sneed caught his 13th career touchdown pass, moving him into a tie for seventh on CMU’s career touchdown receptions list.
Josh Gordy’s interception in overtime was his first interception of the season and seventh of his career.
Frank Zombo was credited with a half of a sack, moving him into a tie for fourth on CMU’s career sacks list with 18.
Bryan Anderson moved into a tie for 13th on the Mid-American Conference career receptions list. He now has a school-record 211 catches.
Dan LeFevour passed Bruce Gradkowski (Toledo) for eighth on the conference’s career completions list. He now has 773 completions in his career.
Antonio Brown passed Justin Harper for fourth on CMU’s career receptions list. Brown has caught 169 passes in a CMU uniform.
