12/7/2008 12:00:00 AM | Football
MOUNT PLEASANT Central Michigan University has accepted an invitation to play Florida Atlantic in the 2008 Motor City Bowl. The Motor City Bowl will kick off at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 26 at Ford Field in Detroit. ESPN will televise the game to a national audience. CMU (8-4 overall, 6-2 Mid-American Conference) becomes just the fourth program in MAC history to compete in a bowl game in three consecutive seasons.
“We’re thrilled to return to Detroit and have another quality bowl experience at the Motor City Bowl,” said CMU Director of Athletics Dave Heeke. “This is another fantastic opportunity for our fans and alumni to see us play and it’s another chance for our university and football program to be in the national spotlight.”
Tickets will go on sale at the CMU Athletic Ticket Office in Rose Center beginning at 8 a.m. Monday, December 8th. Fans can purchase tickets in person at the ticket office or by calling 1-888-FIRE-UP2. Tickets will also be available online at cmuchippewas.com.
CMU will offer reduced-rate ticket prices of $45 for club level seats and $30 for sideline seats, representing a $15 savings from the respective published ticket prices. These prices are available exclusively through the CMU Athletic Ticket Office. The ticket office will be open extended hours from 8 a.m. 8 p.m. Monday through Friday.
All ticket orders will be assessed a $3 handling fee. There will be an additional $5 handling fee for orders sent overnight via FedEx or an additional $3 handling fee for standard mail. CMU will not guarantee shipment of tickets via standard mail. Arrangements can be made to leave tickets at Will Call on all orders made after December 19.
Chippewa Club members will receive priority seating on all tickets purchased by the close of business Friday, Dec. 12. If you are not a current Chippewa Club member and are interested in receiving priority seating for the 2008 Motor City Bowl, please contact the Chippewa Club office at (989) 774-6680. In addition to these priority opportunities, there are a wide variety of membership levels and benefits associated with supporting CMU student-athletes.
Support Central Michigan University
Purchasing tickets through CMU is the strongest way fans and alumni can show their support for the Chippewas during the bowl season. Shopping around and bargain hunting will only hurt our ability to financially support the Chippewa football program and also minimizes the perception that CMU fans travel well in support of their team. Universities are measured by bowl committees on how many tickets they actually sell from their assigned allotment, not the overall attendance at the game. If you really want to support our program and help position us for future bowl opportunities, you absolutely should purchase your 2008 MCB tickets through CMU.
Purchasing tickets through CMU is the only way for fans to ensure their seats will be on the Chippewas' sideline. CMU is offering exclusive ticket prices of $30 for sideline tickets and $45 for club tickets, both of which are a $15 savings from the published ticket price.
Revenue generated from tickets purchased through CMU provides direct support for the football program and Marching Chippewas in paying for the bowl experience.
CMU Motor City Bowl Commemorative Package
Can’t make it to the game? You can still support the CMU football team and marching band.
CMU is extremely excited to accept the bid to play in the 2008 Motor City Bowl. This is a tremendous honor for our football program and a terrific opportunity to showcase our entire university on a national stage. Unfortunately, CMU will not receive sufficient revenue from its appearance to cover all of its travel expenses for the football team and marching band.
You can play an active role in creating a first-class bowl experience for the CMU Chippewas and Marching Chips by making a donation to the Bowl Game Championship Fund. As an incentive for doing so, all individuals donating $100 or more will receive:
A 2008 CMU football season commemorative plaque, which will include a collage of memories from this season, displayed Motor City Bowl game ticket and Motor City Bowl recognition plate.
The Chippewa Athletic Fund will also credit new donors (i.e did not participate in 2008/09) with Chippewa Club membership at the level that corresponds with a donation. (If you are a current Chippewa Club member, an above and beyond donation to the Bowl Game Championship Fund will be added to your 2009/10 membership level once renewed) For a complete listing of Chippewa Club membership levels and benefits Click Here.
Three tickets will be distributed to Motor City Bowl charity groups designed to provide innercity children an opportunity to attend the bowl game
A gift receipt for the portion of your donation that is tax deductible
