MOUNT PLEASANT - The Central Michigan University football team united with students in the CMU Sport Studies program to raise nearly $2,500 through the Tackling Malaria: One Youth at a Time football clinic last weekend.
Proceeds from the event benefited Chip Away Malaria, a program that uses a grassroots approach to fight the malaria epidemic.
Approximately 20 members of the football program and head coach Butch Jones took part in the day-long skills clinic. The players also talked with the campers about the importance of responsibility and leadership.
The football clinic was free of charge for elementary and middle school aged students, with donations to Chip Away Malaria accepted.
