Curran Named MAC Defensive Player of the Week

MOUNT PLEASANT — Senior goalkeeper Melinda Curran (Cincinnati, Ohio/Summit Country Day HS) from the Central Michigan field hockey team was named the Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Tuesday.
Curran turned aside all five shots she faced in 60:32 of action in last Friday’s 4-0 win at Ball State. Against Longwood, the senior made six saves on seven shots.
This is the second time that Curran has won the weekly MAC award in her career.
The Chippewas return to the turf on Saturday when they take on Kent State.
