Central Michigan Postgame Notes
November 27, 2009
With today's win over NIU, CMU completed its first unbeaten and untied MAC regular season schedule in program history.
CMU has now won 10 games for the fifth time in program history, the third time it's won as many games during a regular season.
CMU finished unbeaten at home (5-0) for the first time since 1998.
Bryan Anderson's catch on CMU's opening drive set an NCAA record for most consecutive games with a reception. Anderson has now caught a pass in 52 straight games, a record across all divisions. He passes Taurean Henderson (Texas Tech) and Michael Larkin (Miami, Ohio), who held the record at 51.
Antonio Brown extended to 39 his streak of consecutive games with a reception.
Bryan Schroeder's 80-yard touchdown run is the longest rushing play by a Chippewa since the 2006 MAC Championship Game, when Ontario Sneed scampered 96 yards for a score against Ohio.
The win gives the current senior class 36 career wins, tying it for the third-winningest class in CMU history. The 1977 class won 37 games and the 1980 class won 38. CMU's 1979 class also won 36 games.
CMU scored at least 45 points in each of its five home games this season.
With his three touchdown passes, Dan LeFevour moved into a tie for 10th on the NCAA's career list and now sits one behind Chad Pennington (Marshall) for the MAC's all-time leader. LeFevour is tied with Chase Clement (Rice), Matt Leinart (USC) and Tim Hiller (Western Michigan) on the NCAA Bowl Subdivision list. LeFevour has also now moved into a three-way tie with Colt Brennan (Hawai'i) and Graham Harrell (Texas Tech) with 146 total career touchdowns. He's passed for 99 scores, rushed for 46 and caught one.
Frank Zombo's fourth-quarter interception return for a touchdown is CMU's first since Josh Gordy's 15-yard score on Oct. 13, 2007, against Army. It's the first defensive touchdown of any kind for the Chippewas since that same play.
With his 27 completions, Dan LeFevour moved into seventh on the NCAA career list with 1,110 career completions.
CMU has now outscored its opponents, 88-26 in the first quarter this season.
With his 24 rushing yards against NIU, Dan LeFevour passed Ontario Sneed to move into eighth on CMU's all-time rushing yards chart. LeFevour now has 2,885 career rushing yards.
CMU is now 21-3 against MAC opponents under head coach Butch Jones. The Chippewas are 26-13 overall during Jones' tenure.
Bryan Schroeder finished the contest with a career-high 128 yards on nine carries and two touchdowns. He also caught four passes for 41 yards and a score. It was the third receiving touchdown of his career, and first time he's reached the endzone three times in a game.
