Chippewas Claim Postseason Honors

MOUNT PLEASANT - Central Michigan redshirt freshman left tackle Jake Olson has earned Freshman All-America honors from collegefootballnews.com.
Olson was an honorable mention selection.
Olson has started 11 of the Chippewas' 13 games at left tackle in 2009. He is part of an offensive line that has helped the CMU offense rank first in scoring (33.2 ppg) and second in yardage (416.9 ypg).
Olson is the second Chippewa offensive lineman in three seasons to earn Freshman All-America honors. Colin Miller was an honorable mention selection by the Sporting News in 2007.
Several other Chippewas were recognized as part of Phil Steele's All-Mid-American Conference team.
Steele named quarterback Dan LeFevour, receiver Antonio Brown, linebacker Nick Bellore and cornerback Josh Gordy to his All-MAC first team. Brown also made the second team as a punt returner. He was joined on the second team by offensive linemen Colin Miller and Allen Ollenburger and defensive end Frank Zombo.
Third-team recognition went to receiver Bryan Anderson, defensive lineman Sean Murnane and linebacker Matt Berning, while offensive lineman Rocky Weaver was a fourth-team all-conference selection by Phil Steele.
The No. 25-ranked Chippewas (11-2 overall) face Troy (9-3) in the GMAC Bowl on Jan. 6, 2010. ESPN will televise the game to a national audience.
