Chippewas Fall To Golden Flashes, 8-1

KENT, Ohio – The Central Michigan Chippewas (4-12, 2-6 Mid-American Conference) lost on the road to the Kent State Golden Flashes (12-6, 7-2 MAC) by a score of 8-1 in Mid-American Conference field hockey action on Sunday.
KSU scored four goals in the first half, including three goals in the first 11:17 of the contest.
The lone CMU goal was scored by senior forward Pam Seufert, who scored just over 21 minutes into the game on a rebound.
All of the goals scored by the Golden Flashes in the second half came in the first nine minutes of the period.
KSU junior forward Debbie Bell scored three goals on five shots to lead the offensive attack for the Golden Flashes.
Senior midfielder Rachel Miller had six shots for KSU as well. Miller had one goal and one assist for the game.
Other KSU players with goals were Rebecca Lee, Carla Johl, Nicole Leach and Amy Wimsatt. Leach had two assists. Johl and Wimsatt each had one assist.
Other Chippewas with shots in the game were Ellen Riley, Simone Lazar, Erin Dye and Emily Girasole.
CMU freshman goalkeeper Jaime Cutter played the last 28 minutes of the match for her first action of the season. Cutter made five saves on the day.
The Chippewas are back in action next weekend when they travel to Miami on Saturday and Ball State on Sunday. The start time for both games is 1 p.m. They are the last two games of the regular season for CMU.
